David Diamond is the President and CEO of the Diamond Property Group, a Bronx based, 3rd generation national real estate firm. Presently Mr. Diamond owns and operates approximately 2,500 residential units in the New York Metropolitan Area, as well as approximately 500,000 square feet of commercial industrial parks in South Florida. He also owns and operates several STNL shopping centers outside Dallas, TX, Nixa, MO, Stratford, CT, Dayton, OH and Monroe, GA.
Diamond has been a leader in real estate, property management, cultural and civic initiatives in the Bronx for many years. Formerly a Vice Chairman of Mercy College and of the Board of Trustees of the Bronx Museum of the Arts. He also served as a director of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce and a Vice-President of the Bronx Realty Advisory Board. He is currently a Vice-President of the Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) in New York. He is also a member of the Rent Stabilization Assn.
In addition, Diamond is a NYS Certified Class "A" Interior Structural Firefighter and Motor Pump Operator with the Roslyn Highlands Volunteer Fire Dept. "Dr. Dave" is also a NYS Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and is a former EMS Captain. In 1998, Capt. Diamond won the coveted Firefighter of the Year Award for saving the life of a fellow jogger while running at his hometown high school's track early one September morning. He has received several other state, county and regional awards for delivering a baby girl in October 2004 on the Northern State Parkway.
Diamond was appointed Commander of DMAT NY-2 (Disaster Medical Assistance Team) in 2005 now part of the US Department of Health and Human Services. DMAT's were originally only deployed throughout the continental United States and its territories. Since the earthquake in Haiti, DMAT's now deploy throughout International Countries providing catastrophic disaster medical care in cases of natural and/or man-made disasters. Diamond has received special training in chemical, biological and radiological warfare and maintains an "Operations Level" rating in Haz-Mat and WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) with the government. He is also an FAA Licensed Instrument Rated Pilot.
Born in the Bronx, David has been a resident of the Village of East Hills since 1978. He serves as Roads Commissioner and is a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals.
He and his wife Susan have two daughters, Erin and Damien, son-in-law Dr. Joseph Cole, M.D. and three grandchildren, Harrison aged 12, Emily aged 11 and Zach aged 8. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami and received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degree from Mercy College in May of 1994, where he serve as Vice Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees and has been a member of that board since 1992.
